Protect the Dads

Protect the Dads.. Especially the good ones. Lord we pray for every single one of them; and we ask for special provisions to surround them as they make choices that affect the legacy of our future World.

We ask you to protect the ones that choose to put down the phone and pick up an honest conversation with their spouse.

We ask for eternal Blessings over the Dads that go straight to the ball field after a long days work instead of the bar. We ask you God to be with and heal the Dads that fight addiction, circumstance and poverty.

We praise the men in our life that have made the hard choices day after day, year after year to be there for their children in spite of the thoughts, the pain and negative thinking this world is so cruelly known for.

We thank you God for the Dads we wouldn’t trade a Championship trophy for. The coach Dads, the hard working Dads, the Dads that throw the ball in the backyard and even if time or circumstance don’t allow them to throw with us…we PRAISE you God for the man that instills belief only a Father can within their children’s hearts.

The praying Dads, the stand up Dads, the Grandpa’s that take us fishing or teach us how to play checkers, the Grandpas that sometimes become Dad. 🫶

We thank you God for the loving Dads, perhaps that love in spite of what they were lacking. They are of the superhuman variety and we cherish them. And the Dads that struggle to express their love, we ask you soften their hearts. Let them know they have permission.

Vulnerability, even just a little bit can leave room for life altering conversations of acceptance and a lifetime of love.

The real ones, the step ones, the stand in ones, the heavenly ones. The funcles and coach Dads that swoop in with words of compassionate tuffness or encouragement when they know a Father isn’t present.

I pray for the Father my son may one day become.

We know how to celebrate and talk about Mom’s. We honor their life-giving hard work, but sometimes I think as a society we miss the mark when it comes to our Dads. We forget our men suffer in silence the demeaning pressure to provide in all the ways, over and over and over, no matter what comes their way. They suffer in a society that isn’t safe for them to share their heart. Dads hurt too, just like me and you.

May we protect them. May we cover them in love and sunscreen and homemade art this Father’s Day and every day. May we be a soft place for them to land when they hit the doorstep. May we pack their lunches with love notes and adorn their recliner naps with whispered prayers asking God to give them a peace that surpasses all understanding, strength to see another day and enough love for generations to come.

I thank you God for my Daddy, he’s so uniquely mine I couldn’t imagine it any other way. A Daddy that even after two open heart surgeries was at my house working and helping me just yesterday. A Dad that truly never quits. I love you.

I thank you for my Grandpa Jack. Now looking back I see he was the ultimate Dad in every way and I miss him so much. Not perfect, because no Dad ever is, just an incredible, God fearing, train loving, pray for you kind of Dad and Grandpa.

I thank you for my big little brother Unky Jack, it’s the biggest blessing watching you grow into an incredible father and partner. I love you. I’ve watched what you’ve overcome and it’s incredible. Your love for yourself and committment to sobriety is a blessing to everysingle one of us, especially your little boy. 🩵

My Step Dad, Michael. I’m not sure what I did to deserve you in my life, but I thank God for it. You are an incredible example for me and my kids and I Thank God for you!

My (ex) but always will be Father-In-Law. I cry writing this knowing that if me or the children needed you, you would drop everything and come. You are a rock of a human being. My babies are so lucky to have you as a Papa. I’m eternally grateful for you.

We simultaneously celebrate and mourn the Dads gone way too soon. You will never be replaced, your Spirit guides us and we are thankful you are among those resting peacefully with the Lord. You did your part and made your mark, we love you knowing your Dadness was so big, so bold and so beautiful you fulfilled your mission here on earth. Gods got you now. Forever in our hearts.

Matt, we love and miss you to the ends of the earth. We rejoice for the day we will see you again.

And for my own children’s Father. I pray a special prayer. Without you there would be no them. My greatest Blessings. My reason. My purpose. I pray for you all the time. We pray for you all the time. For safety and abundance and love and peace. No matter what, I will always pray for you.

So may we speak this over you today and everyday. Thank you Dads. For doing the hard work. For getting up and doing it again and again. We love you. We cherish you. We protect you. Happy Father’s Day.
